The Super Bowl was this past Sunday and you know what that means! Lot's of great advertising and some of the best commercials of the year. However, these commercials and the TV time is not cheap, but quite the contrary. Companies advertising during the Super Bowl had to pay upwards of $3.3 million just for a 30 second slot during commercials. Companies are willing to pay however due to the vast audience that the Super Bowl attracts. But do the ads always pay off? That question is certainly up for debate. One thing that is not up for debate is that despite the high cost of advertising during the big game, some of the best commercials and advertisements of the entire year were displayed during the Superbowl. Anyway, Here are my top 5 favorite Super Bowl XLVI commercials in no particular order.
1.
The Dog Strikes Back – Volkswagen

2. 2012 – Chevy Silverado
3. Transactions – Acura
4. Man's Best Friend- Doritos
5. Sexy Chocolate- M&M's
The ads have become almost as much an event as the game itself (and, for some people, are even more entertaining). Will be interesting to see how many of these ads we will remember in a month.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of your top five commercials as well. My favorite was the sexy chocolate one by M&M. It played a hit song that everyone likes and enjoys so it was a very memorable commercial. It is ridiculous how much companies are willing to pay to advertise during the SuperBowl. But I think that it pays off in the end.
ReplyDeleteThe reason companies pay so much to advertise during Super Bowl is to create hype. No matter what the content is, I feel ultimately companies want mass public to talk about their ads and then remember their products when shoppers are grocery shopping or online shopping. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising. Super Bowl commercials makes us discuss and compare their ads which leaves an impression. Just as what we are doing now. :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad i thought all the commercials were crummy this year. I would be interested in seeing if there is a correlation between the economy and the level of humor in super bowl commercials. I do agree that the Chevy Commercial was pretty boss though.
